Do you think Robert Crais has a hard time falling asleep at night with the weight of being the funniest thriller writer in the business hanging over his head?
But, to be more serious, he manages a delicate balance of wit and compassion in his writing that can be lost. Cole doesn't get too burnt out to care about the people he's working for or working with.
