A dark tale of forbidden love and the consequences that follow. It all started with one mistake. But that’s what life is, isn’t it? One mistake after the other, hoping that one day, things will finally go right for a change. I left when I got the chance. I thought it would make everything okay. But sometimes, things go awry and we all have to go back to the places that hurt us the most. I should have expected it. After all, everything can’t be perfect forever. I found myself drawn to the dark and emotional premise of Between Hope & Tragedy right from the start. I really enjoyed the story of Zaydee's forbidden love affair with her teacher, Garrett, and the long-lasting consequences she grapples with. I'm particularly interested in how the novella explores themes of grief, depression, and trauma, as these are topics that I find both important and relatable.
Overall, Between Hope & Tragedy was a powerful and moving story that I was eager to read and glad I did. The exploration of complex emotions and difficult subjects in a thoughtful way is something that I always appreciate in a book.
