Kylie Scott writes such great chemistry. I really enjoyed how Ani and Garrett made their way from neighbors to friends to more. It was sweet and wholesome while also being sensual and sultry.
Not only are Garrett and Ani wonderful, so is the cast of side characters. From the people in Ani’s small town to Garrett’s bandmates and friends. They all keep things interesting and bring a levity to many of the scenes. I especially enjoyed some of the older folks in town and how the reacted to Garrett and later protected him.
Ani has such grit. The way she stands up for herself when it’s needed is inspiring. She’s been through a lot and has every reason to hide away from the world. Which she is actually doing to some extent. But when she finds herself drawn to Garrett and ready to open up she finds that she has quite a strong backbone and she’s much tougher than she thought.
While I finished this story quite quickly, I didn’t engage with it to the same extent as I usually do with this author’s books. It was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the story, but there is something I cannot quite put my finger on that was missing for me. Again, still a terrific story.
