Several months after I'll Come Back for You... Helen Beck is training to become a witch like her late-grandmother, but managing a bed and breakfast and her ADHD, makes concentrating nearly impossible. When her mentor convinces her go into the woods and practice magic under the moonlight, she hopes that the natural world unlocks her dormant powers. A year ago, Everett Myer left Alaska to come home and help his father run the family hardware store. But he brought back a few secrets as well. First, he'd rather take over his grandmother's bakery than sell tools for the rest of his life. Second, he has an intense crush on Helen but he doesn't know how to talk to her… Let alone reveal that he's a demisexual virgin. But he finds his tongue after Helen's accidental spell leaves him bewitched. Instant attraction with Everett wasn't her goal, but the results are hot. Unfortunately, this sexy conjuring only distracts them from a larger problem: There's something evil in Everett's grandmother's house and Helen will need to summon all of her newfound skills to get rid of it.

I haven't read the first book, so I didn't realize this is a scary book! I started reading it at bedtime, and NOPE this is a daylight book for me. But I spook easy.

So clearly the scary bits were effective for me! Like... seriously effective.

Helen is a new witch, just coming into her powers. Everett is the hot guy at the hardware store and also her neighbor. Helen accidentally casts a sex spell on Everett (over-simplifying here) and they have the literal hots for each other. Meanwhile, something evil has taken up residence in Everett's grandmother's house and Helen is the only one he can turn too.

I didn't realize hot horror is a genre, because this book alternates between very scary and very very hot. The sex spell contributes, but the seeds were there well before.

I had a lot of fun reading this - you've got two people drawn together by fate with a problem to solve together. What's better? If you like spooky hot books with a rabbit familiar, this will be your jam.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
