A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win. After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name. The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever... Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.

Already I think I like Legendary more than Caraval :) I love reading the story from Tella's perspective. I've seen people say that they find her annoying, and while I did think she was VERY annoying at the end of Caraval, I find her perspective more fun than Scarlett's because she is more open to taking risks. Her interactions with Dante are quite fun, but her focus on making Dante jealous can get annoying at times. If there continues to be romance between the two, I hope it's more slow-burn because they're both into each other wayyyy too early on for my liking. Also, apparently Tella is like 16, but I always imagined Dante to be in his early 20s?? So, unless he's also a teenager, their relationship is a bit yikes D: I wish Tella was written as a bit older, especially considering her drinking habits and experiences with men. I'm so far enjoying reading about Jacks, he seems so fun and is the reason why I started the Caraval series in the first place, because I wanted some background before reading Once Upon a Broken Heart. Legendary also seems to be slightly slower than Caraval so far, which I hope stays that way because I felt like Caraval at some point had a lot of events without too much depth to them - it's too early to comment on the pacing of Legendary though.
This is getting interesting! I had a hunch this would happen but I still wasn’t ready enough.
