A new neighbour has an issue with Mrs Bennet’s attitude and intervenes by adopting the girls, giving Elizabeth, Mary and Kitty the chance to become accomplished young ladies and learn whatever else interests them. Their interests result in an unconventional education and very different sisters from the way they were destined to be. Follow their journey to adulthood and watch how events might have unfolded. This is a low angst and mostly nice and sweet story. If you like lots of drama, angst, misunderstandings and drawn out conflict, this story is probably not for you.

If you are looking for a story full of angst, high drama, character development and thrilling action with a deep and meaningful storyline, this offering is not for you. If you like a fun, feelgood story which is mostly no-angst fluff you might enjoy A Plethora of Peers. As the title suggests, Darcy and Elizabeth are peers. They are both the grandchildren of an Earl… different Earls, of course. While this circumstance removes one set of problems, it causes its own difficulties. The story follows the general timeline and major events of P&P until the ball, but the details are quite different. Longbourn is still entailed, but Mr Bennet has a son, who is also the heir to his maternal grandfather, the Earl of Ashcroft. Bingley still rents Netherfield and Darcy still does not like to dance and there will be plenty of insults and set downs. Even Mr Collins and Lady Catherine put in an appearance and cause their own problems to the amusement of some. Enjoy an irreverent romp through P&P where much is not as it seems.

An accident at the Netherfield ball forces Mr Darcy to propose to Miss Elizabeth Bennet. But when he finds the accident was caused by Lydia Bennet, he suspects he was deliberately set up for a compromise. At that point, his fledgling love for Miss Elizabeth turns to scorn. He is determined to back out of the hasty engagement, and damn the consequences, until he learns that Miss Elizabeth hates him and does not want to marry him. Suddenly he is equally determined to change her mind and gain her love. Along the way many people are surprised at what they discover about themselves and people they thought they knew.

If all those things come to pass, how will the story play out? Some unpleasant truths will be aired before ODC can find their way to happiness. While on the whole this is a lighthearted story, there is a brief mention of domestic violence, which at the time was common and legal.
