"maybe life is just a cycle of forgiving and accepting forgiveness--if we let ourselves listen and change."
i loved this adaptation so much! i've actually never read any version of Anne of Green Gables except for this one, but i loved it! Anne is so sweet and tries so hard, even in spite of all the trauma and upheaval she's experienced in her life. i appreciated how she finally gave Gilbert a chance by the end and decided to put her anger aside. and her little relationship with Diana!! so sweet. i related so much to her confusion about her feelings and her anger that she wasn't able to invite Diana to the dance. i was giggling and kicking my feet!! so sweet how they ended up together.

It was a wonderful retelling of one of my favorite books! Modernization without Anne losing her essence that has made her a beloved character, plus LGBTQIA+ themes and a sapphic storyline! I love the way that Anne was shown such unconditional love and support while grappling with fitting in, being teased, self-image, and sexuality. As well as the use of gentle parenting techniques by Matthew and Marilla!
