There is a mole in the Gray Box organization. Gideon Stone is assigned to investigate Willow Harper, an analyst for the team. He knows she is not the mole and wants the opportunity to prove it. When it becomes apparent that someone is setting things up to make it appear that Willow is the mole, Gideon goes against his training (and his team) and convinces Willow to run with him. Their top priority is getting evidence of Willow’s innocence, but as they begin to spend more time together it becomes more than just a mission.
This book was fantastic and I couldn’t put it down! Willow is a brilliant analyst who is also autistic. Willow’s rationale is part of what helps her navigate the situation they are in. I love her character and how direct she is with her wants and needs! After Gideon’s first marriage, he doesn’t think he should put anyone through a relationship with him. Willow makes him start to question the beliefs he has about himself. This book has a lot of action and I loved every second of it!
I think my favorite aspect of the book were the times when Willow would follow what Gideon would say (example, stay in this room, or you could be assassinated), because he is a black-ops professional! So often in books, I read female characters who directly go against orders and wind up in danger as a result. This does not happen in this book! I am officially hooked on this series and I can’t wait to read the next one!
