New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett steams up the ice all over again as the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team's hottest bad boy gets his first taste of something good. In a league full of troublemakers, Cold Fury defenseman Roman Sýkora stands out—at least when it comes to negative publicity. When he's not chilling in the penalty box, the sizzling Czech skate demon is racking up tabloid headlines for his scandalous behavior with the ladies. But now Roman's feeling the burn from management to clean up his act, or else. Luckily he's got an enticing a fun-loving barista who plays the ukulele and brings out a side of Roman he didn't know he had. Lexi Robertson came to Raleigh, North Carolina, to finally meet her father, Brian Brannon, and her half sister, Gray, both of whom work in the Cold Fury's front office. Okay, I know this book is primarily about Roman and Lexi, but I have to address the Gray issue. In my review of Ryker I said that I admired Gray and the way she was portrayed. I wanted to punch her in the face in this book. Harsh? Well, her actions warrant my harshness. She seemed to forget that pretty much all of her husband’s friends started out as players (in the dating/sex scene sense) until they found their true loves. Not to mention, as Roman reminds her, Roman is an enforcer. She went after him to play for the Cold Fury because of that fact, not despite the fact.

Alright, enough about Gray. Let’s talk about Roman and Lexi. The are so right for each other. Lexi is sweet and loved by all who meet her, but she still is somewhat of the odd man out in most situations. Roman doesn’t let anyone get close to him. He’s always had to rely on only himself so he’s not so good at making friends or going to family functions. Not only that, but he doesn’t think he needs friends and family. It’s not because he has some chip on his shoulder, he just never got to have that experience so doesn’t realize that friends and family can be a good thing. Put the two of them together and it’s like they find their home with each other.

Another aspect of this story is a love story between Gray and Lexi’s dad Brian and Lexi’s boss/mother figure Georgia. It’s very sweet and really helps pull this story together to have Brian and Georgia banding together to help Lexi navigate her relationship with her “new” sister.

We don’t get to see much of the other guys other than Ryker, but I love that when we do see them they are still the guys I fell in love with in each of their stories. They all find Roman’s problems funny now that they have their women and are beyond the “figuring it out” phase. It’s actually really sweet. If I was a hockey player and the Cold Fury were a real team, I would be clamoring for a contract with them. Their “family” is getting better and better.

Update after reading audiobook version 6/12/14:
All of the above feelings still stand. But this is one I don't recommend the audiobook version. I felt the narrator didn't differentiate between Roman and Brian well enough so it got confusing at times. If it's your first time reading this book, I'd suggest reading a physical copy first.
