The New York Times published a list on August 5th, 2026, of the 50 best thrillers published since 2000 as voted on by hundreds of writers of every kind of crime fiction, from legal thrillers to spy novels to cozy mysteries, as well as librarians, editors, critics and Bookstagrammers.

Mostly horror, some thrillers, and some plain weird books that you probably followed well, and definitely think about for a long time.

The Women's Prize for Fiction was started in 1996 as a way to highlight exceptional women writers and to balance out the coverage that male writers received. The Women's Prize is awarded every year to the best novel written in English and published in the UK. There is also a Women's Prize for Nonfiction, created in 2023.

Bitter, unsweetened, impossible to forget!
