Recs if you like Beneath the Sugar Sky...

This list is a comfort-reads pantry of low-stakes fantasy where food and drink are the magic. Every pick centers a kitchen, café, tea room, coffee bar, bakery, cocktail or anything food as the heart of the story, with conflicts that stay gentle, community-minded plots, and endings that leave you soothed rather than stressed. Cozy, sensory escapes and character growth over battles!

Novellas, shorter books, and stories that are a decent bite of literature and a full meal despite being compact. Like a burrito on a commute to work. AKA my full novella master list.

books with doors (of any kind) that open to unexpected places

Dimension 20 season 5 on Dropout is A Crown of Candy, a high stakes story similar to A Game of Thrones but with candy people and many, many tears. Venture into the world of the royal family of Candia, making allies and enemies of those of the dairy isles and meat lands, and enjoying a little peppermint pig.

What it says on the tin. I've heard truly excellent things about all of these, so maybe give them a try if you haven't yet?

Because there are so many now and I am very confused every time which one to read next !

Horror (and horror adjacent) books with weird/creepy kids and teenagers
