this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year because i loved the previous duets and to say that i was disappointed would be a severe understatement.

    let's start with the characters.
so we have joey and adora. i expected to love them because i had loved joey in the other books. but in his own book, both he and adora acted so immaturely and most of the conversations in the first 60% percent of the book went like this:
"you like pussy. do you like cock?"
    "you'll like my cock."
"what if she doesn't like cock?"
all i could think of was "who talks like this?" and it got so old so quickly. it also did not help that they had close to zero chemistry. even their smut scenes were boring.
now, adora is bisexual and you're thinking "yay, bi rep!", so did i. but it was done so poorly and the way joey was written portrayed him as some biphobic asshole.

    the writing.
i felt like someone ghostwrote this for t.l. smith. compared to the previous duets, the writing was so juvenile and the pacing was so off. everything was rushed through and the way some scenes were written felt like they were just written for the sake of writing it. before i could even feel anything for the characters, the scene was over.
the formatting for text messages sent between characters was so bad. there was no indication of who sending what and it ended up just being one whole chunk of text.

    the plot.
honestly, i didn't know what the fuck was main plot. was it adora having a dying ex-gf? was it her secret suddenly being revealed (which was done near the very end and very abruptly)? so much was happening but at the same time, nothing was happening. but the most important thing was that i felt nothing.

the only reason i'm giving this book 2 stars is because of its dedication, which was my favourite part.
