Recs if you like What Lies in the Woods...

Here's every book so far from BOTM's monthly shortlist since February 2015 for anyone who wants to read them all like I do!

This includes book that have either mystery or thrillers as a primary or secondary genre. If you have recommendations to add please comment and I'll happily add them 💕

“Nothing bad has ever happened in the forest.” -Andrew from Don't Let the Forest In (and all of these MCs, probably)

So I LOVE the show Cold Case (ilysm Lilly Rush/Scotty Valens). Cold case mystery/thrillers live in that unsettling space where justice failed the first time, and the world moved on as if the truth didn’t matter. These stories, like the show, return to those forgotten crimes years, even decades later, when a detective, journalist, podcaster, or relentless outsider decides to dig deeper. #tacklingunfinishedbusiness #coldcases

Ethical murder solving from your couch without joining your local police department.

Stories that involve monsters (literal, psychological, metaphorical) and the woods. 🌲🌲🌲

The jury is still out, but these thrillers with podcast elements are officially in…this list.

True thrillers that you can't put down and keep you heart racing.

I was falling OUT of love with thrillers until I found a niche that sang to my black millennial heart. These 5-star, adrenaline-inducing thrillers feel like they're written FOR women (usually by women). They enshrine or expose some aspect of the fem-experience and either champion or blatantly fail at modern feminism.

Adult genre (any sub-genre) where the FMC or MMC is a photographer.

(Please give me titles that apply in the comments!)

Mysteries and thrillers waiting to keep me guessing.

Pairs of books that have odd similarities, from titles (ie 7 Evelyns) to plots.
