Recs if you like The Well of Ascension...

A list of books with corrupt, evil, or just downright bad governments! I'm not sure how I ended up reading so many of these types of books (prob my love for dystopia) but here I am haha. Most of these will prob include taking down said evil government. I will update this list as I read more books with bad govs.

There are a lot of suggested Cosmere Reading orders, but I really wanted to read in the order that Sanderson himself suggested. He has a video he released on YouTube with a suggested reading order for his books, so I put together a list that reflects what he posted in that video. The short stories that aren't tied to any particular series are sprinkled in between some of the larger reads like the Stormlight Books. If you have suggestions on how to order said short stories, i'm open to move them around, but please be kind and understand that this entire thing is going to be subjective. Even Sanderson's video was loose in its suggestions, like he didn't want to dictate what his readers pick up. That said, here's the list!

I asked readers in the Club forum What was your first read for Pagebound? Allowing for it to be either their first recorded book on Pagebound or the first they read for a badge. These were the answers I got. Additions are always welcome.

Cosmere Reading List by Publication Order

Short stories and novellas may overlap with Arcanum Unbounded.

If you’re planning to read White Sands go for the Omnibus version instead of the single volumes.

Brandon Sanderson universe ~ Cosmere 🌑

Collection of Cosmere works. Note: Arcanum Unbounded collects many of the novellas and short stories into a single collection.

A personal study in gothic lit, fantasy, mythology, and the writing of it.

Have you ever wanted a PhD in English Lit? Do you think fantasy is a legitimate field of literary criticism? Would you like a glimpse into the psyche of someone who does?

These are the books included (or excerpted from) on my comprehensive exams list for a dissertation on fantasy. It is not even a remotely comprehensive list of fantasy texts and criticism (yes, I see the irony).

My Cosmere reading order!! There’s so many reading orders out there but this is mine for my first read through ☺️ and trust me i’m planning to reread them many more times in different orders hehe

there’s no right or wrong order for entering the Cosmere!!

A compilation of trilogies mixing love, fantasy, new worlds and magic.

Books that subvert the chosen one trope in some way

Still adding

Just trying to make my way through Brandon's work!

Named after the Trope on TVtropes.org, this list contains books where the antagonist (or one of the main antagonists) have romantic feelings towards the/ or one of the main character(s). Of course, "romantic" may be debatable...

Trilogies that all have an average 4 or more star ratings and at least 100 points of engagement (reviews & posts) in Pagebound across all three books. This list is collected from first books in series from the Master Fantasy and Romantasy List by readandtellstories. For those times when I need highly rated epics. I have not read all of these books. Please let me know if any should be added.

These are fantasy series that interrogate religion and the role that religion plays in society.
