The Dean brothers are finally reunited…and it’s so very sweet when they are. Now, I’ll caution you that it’s a ways into this book before Matt, Nate, and Shane get to see Jory with their own eyes, but it’s worth the wait. The beginning gives us some back story on where Jory has been for the last 2 plus years as well as introducing us to Piper. Heads up, this review is a tiny bit more spoilerish they I usually write. I won’t be giving anything huge away, but it’s hard to not mention a few things that aren’t in the blurb about the book while also writing a thorough review.

Dear, tough, naïve, hopeful, brilliant Piper. This girl got her claws into me right from the start. Her deep down need to know who her father is and to believe he would have been a great father if only he had known she existed. The way Dr. Madison and the Commander played her like a puppet all the while she fought the strings. She may be naïve, but the girl’s not stupid. I loved seeing her open herself to the truth bit by bit. Her trust in Jory opening up at the same time. Even when she had every reason to be afraid of him, she just knew Jory would never hurt her.

Jory’s desperation to gain his freedom and find his brothers was so deep. Then Chase comes into the mix and the big brother aspect of his personality takes over. Where Jory has always been protective of his brothers, he’s also always been the baby of the family. It’s a whole new feeling for him to have young boys he feels responsible for. The interactions between Chase and Piper as the story goes on are so touching. It’s one thing to know the Dean brothers grew up with no maternal or paternal figure in their lives. To see a teen in the same situation those boys used to be in get to have people care about him, and how he reacts to that, is heart melting.

Like I said, I was a bit spoilerish in this review. I can’t say more without giving full on spoilers. Just know this story is a perfect ending to this part of the Dean brother’s story. I did things backward and read the Blood Brothers series first, so I know we’ll see these characters again. Do yourself a favor and read that series if you haven’t yet. It’s just as amazing as this one and adds a whole other layer to the overall story of these test tube soldiers.

This one was a lot. On it's own, if this was only the story of Jory and Piper, then it wouldn't have been as good. I didn't love them at first. Jory was hard to get a handle on and Piper was kind of annoying. But to the overall story, this book was an amazing ending. It really takes you on a wild ride full of fun, excitement, danger, and romance. The series as a whole had kind of a rocky start for me, but the perfect ending.
