I went into Plutona with a lot of expectations, as I'd heard nothing but its praises for months on end. After reading, I'm not really sure what the fuss was about honestly. There's nothing wrong with the book at all, Lemire has a knack for dialogue and pacing, and I love Lenox's simple yet expressive art. Further, the story, while unoriginal, is well presented and interesting. But none of it seemed special or specifically praise worthy. I wonder if this book benefits from the single comic issue format as opposed to a graphic novel format, as I feel a lot of the character depth and "coming of age" stuff benefits from a month long gap of fermenting. I read all 5 issues within the hour, so maybe it was lost on me. Again, Plutona is by no means bad, not at all, I just didn't think it was anything overly special.
