  • I'm hoping George will get better.

I wish he would be the type of redemptive character that I was expecting. Still unsure whether things will change

-author Charlie Higson What a blast from the past!! Silverfin is the first novel in the Young Bond book series. This series depicts James Bond (Yes, theeee James Bond) life when he was younger and how he has always been a hero. First of all I must sing Charlie Higson's praise as this novel is wonderfully written and even though it would be considered a novel for 9-13 year old's, this book has stood the test of time and ageing. It still kept me, a 21 year old on my toes and chewing at my finger nails. I am sad to report that for now the Young bond series seems to be over with the last book published by Steven Cole in 2014 after Higson had to bow out due to him writing a new book series which I am very much looking forward to reading. I will definitely be continuing this series and would highly recommend it too anyone who loves action, thrillers and outlandish villains who will make your skin crawl. I would also say that even though this book is marketed as a 9-13 year old's novel that this could pass for a fun adult read as well as it deals with many mature themes. I am unsure of writing a summary of the book as I am afraid it may contain unwitting spoilers to those with perceptive minds. I am also not sure what in this book might be a spoiler/hint for the next few books. I truly hope that Steven Cole will continue this series and that more books will be published. As for a movie series or TV series, I would be delighted if they were made with the correct casting and interpretation of the written material. I loved these books when I was younger, and I have never read the first one, being Silverfin, so this was nostalgic as well as new and novel for me as a reader. So happy about this read. Cant wait to start book 2. After I have finished the whole series I will write a deep dive on it with parallels and spoilers and proper summaries of all the books. Characters 5/5 Setting 4/5 Story 5/5 Overall 4.5/5 For more reviews on movies, series and books check out my websites: https://thebansheescall.blogspot.com https://bansheecall.wordpress.com
