Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting. From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis lupis, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate; the other half of his soul. The problem is Fane is not the only wolf in Coldspring, Texas. Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, another wolf steps out to try and claim Jacque as his mate. Fane will now have to fight for the right to complete the mating bond, something that is his right by birth but is being denied him by a crazed Alpha. Will the love Fane has for Jacque be enough to give him the strength to defeat his enemy, will Jacque accept that she is Fane's mate and complete the bond between them?

I liked this book A LOT once I got past the halfway point or so. I will be picking up the next in this series to read eventually too.

I picked it up for free and just decided I needed a quick YA read. The plot is pretty unique and well to be honest the cover drew me in. It's a gorgeous book cover.

The reason I knocked off two stars was the constant reinforcement of it being in the south. I just felt a bit put off by it as a southern. It was almost forced to me the whole "good southern meal" type stuff. Another reason is that the teen speak drove me up a wall and I felt like it wasn't authentic. I'm not a teen anymore but the ones I know don't txt or talk the way this author made them sound. Also the music seemed a bit odd IMO for teens she mentions Pearl Jam and it's not something teens today would listen to. The last flaw for me was the awkward conversations about going to grab their cellphone or that. I felt those convos could be skipped and instead just made into a few lines versus half a page.

Overal the plot line in this book was great. The plot was intriguing. I am curious to see where Jacque and Fane's relationship goes after this. I was just disappointed that it took me almost halfway through the book to be grabbed by it. Once again I liked this book a lot the 3 stars aren't a bad rating for me it's more of a "I liked it I'd like to read more at some point" rating.
