After becoming completely addicted to both ‘Elemental Fae Academy’ and ‘Midnight Fae Academy’ I always jump at the chance to read anything to do with this world.
‘Ella’s Masquerade’ is the prequel to ‘Midnight Fae Academy’ and starts out with a very fairy tale vibe mixed in with some bullying, being a fun, modern twist on Cinderella.
Continuity between this book and the Midnight Fae Academy trilogy is on point. Even though we all know how Cinderella pans out, this is still super fun to see through … and satisfying as Ella and Trey turn the tables on some bullies.
For anyone looking for another scrap of the Midnight Fae world, I’d recommend this book. I’d recommend it to anyone else as well. It does a great job of straddling both this and the human world and blending magic into reality.
The epilogue of ‘Ella’s Masquerade’ has a nice lead-in to ‘Midnight Fae Academy, Book 1’ but can be read before or after it. I recommend all the books in this world you can get your hands on!

Note:
I listened to the audiobook.
The female narrator took a bit of getting used to; she has a high-pitched voice and speaks in a sort of slow, patronizing tone. I expect she might be very well-suited to children’s narrations. Not unpleasant—just not my first choice for an adult read.
The male has a very pleasant voice, and smooth manner of reading; I found myself wishing he’d narrated the entire book alone. (I normally do like dual narrations, but am picky about voice and reading style.)
Overall well done. Though I might opt for the ebook next time I come across the female narrator in this instance.
