Horror books with a page count of 200 pages or less.

Before we started defining novellas by word count, they were defined as being any book less than 200 pages. Source: my Analysis of Short Stories & Literature professor in community college. I loved that class. But he loved James Joyce. So, ymmv, I guess.

Sci-fi novels in the vein of the Alien franchise

gays in space (or I guess sometimes dealing with space shit on earth), with a tending toward optimistic futures. this list will continue to grow and change over time. this list includes trans folks, queercore, and graphic novels.

if a book is part of a series, I'm only listing the first book just so the list doesn't get overrun.

Sci-Fi horror novels set off-world (written by fem and non-binary authors)

All of it. I'm not sorry. Books set in outer space or involving space travel and featuring queer main characters.

For the times you want a short read or need to finish a challenge fast.

All of these are less than 200 pages or no more than 5 hours long. Most are considered novellas, but some short stories have been included as well. No anthologies or collections.

Emphasis on "Queer."

Horror that depicts queer relationships and/or has queer main characters.

Includes narratives with queer characters that are not all morally good and may be considered "problematic" at times. A reminder that to be queer does not absolve one of the faults of being human.

Heavy emphasis on character exploration through pleasant to odd to grotesque narratives.

Includes splatterpunk books that are not for the faint of heart.

Includes books I personally do and don't love.
