Recs if you like Baron: The Cat Returns...

I learned wayyyyy too late in my life that most of the Ghibli movies were derived from books. Some we know about, like Howl's Moving Castle, some we don't, like I didn't know Kiki's Delivery Service was a novel originally! So I've decided to make a list for the Ghibli enjoyers who want to take a look at where these wonderful movies sprout from 😁

From sarcastic strays to magical familiars and mysterious midnight companions, this list celebrates whiskered heroes who quietly (or dramatically) steal every scene they’re in. Expect heart, humor, soft paws, sharp claws, and at least one emotional ambush.

There are a few lists that are about the books and manga that Ghibli films are based on but none were quite what I wanted, so I made my own. I wanted a list of the source material that the Studio Ghibli movies are inspired by and including any sequels they may have. Untranslated works or books I can't find. If anyone happens to how to find them or if I missed something please let me know.

Kiki's books 4 through 9, The Age of the Flying Boat, My Neighbors the Yamadas, and From Coquelicot Hill.

Basically books with cats, whether it's books from my tbr or the books i liked with cats as characters
