This is the list from which I'll be choosing for my Personal Syllabus this year. It explores the question: "How has the history and culture of Appalachia impacted Appalachian literature and storytelling?"

I would love recommendations! Nonfiction about Appalachia and fiction produced by Appalachia.

Books across all genres taking place almost entirely in hotels, motels, inns, B&Bs, boarding houses, retreats, you get the point. Whether it’s a single night or an extended stay, you’re an employee or an owner, the transitory element of hotels can provide us with great stories.
