Recs if you like The BreakBeat Poets, Vol. 3: Halal If You Hear Me...

Poetry has a long history of being used to speak on injustices, raise awareness, and provide social commentary. Diversify your poetry shelves with these poets that speak on their experiences navigating marginalization. Would love recommendations!

I’ve read We Call to the Eye & the Night: Love Poems by Writers of Arab Heritage (2023; edited and with an introduction by Hala Alyan & Zeina Hashem Beck) at the turnover of 2025 and 2026. This list was made in February 2026. There are collections, chapbook, anthologies and poetry periodicals the authors have appeared in that I could find. Follow to engage with poetry by authors of Arab Heritage.
