Recs if you like Lost in the Garden...

books that are so changed by the end that they're entirely different books on the re-read. books best entered blind, with a twist or gradual reveal that is not just surprising, but retroactively rewrites everything you've already read – the meaning, tone, genre, or intention of every page before it.

"No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man."

recs so so welcome!

Recs are from r horrorlit. I have not read them, but thought it would be a fun concept for you and me.

Spooky summer fun for all ages, from cute picture books with spooky elements, to creepy middle grade graphic novels, to teen + YA thrills, to adult-level gore and a sprinkling of erotic horror/dark romance. Books on this list have a heavy summer theme, either highlighting the season or taking place in settings like summer camps, fairgrounds, beaches, or water parks, and have some sort of creepy or scary element to them.

botanical horror my beloved

These books are sticky and sweating and SUFFOCATING

just a little list of haunted books that are doing something fun or a bit different than a traditional ghost story

describing these books is impossible without sounding like an absolute crazy person

Fiction and non-fiction that feels like baking heat, chirping crickets, and the harsh glare of the sun.

botanical, fungal, animal, and environmental horror 🪾

what it says on the tin.

Summerween recs

shit that's deeply weird but nonetheless comforting to me for some strange reason

Books that can be a little weird, a little silly, or a little sinister. Just like Cosmo Sheldrake. Sometimes whimsical, sometimes haunting, sometimes airy, and sometimes dark. But always distinct, strange, different, and beautiful. ❤️‍🩹 (And one just cuz it was written by his brother)

Folk horror, weird and unsettling eerie books set in nature. In other words my favourite genre😋

books that centre around the apocalypse or the potential for an event to become apocalyptic. may include some dystopian books, zombie stories, climate fiction, pandemic narratives, and natural disasters. the story may centre on a single place rather than the entire world. not all of these were perfect reads but they were still interesting. contains only books i've read

Why read a cozy book, when instead you can feel unsettled yet somewhat validated while reading of another women’s journey through the horrors of life?

From a slow descent into madness, covering up murder for siblings, accidentally joining a cult, to insurance fraud over taxidermy - this list covers it all!!

the best fiction about the natural world and the climate crisis

I love these authors and their weird minds
