This is one of many "a new dog moves in with a family that already has a resentful cat" books that has been published over the last three years. The plot is pretty standard for each -- after conflict, they become friends, then a baby arrives. Princess Puffybottom and Darryl isn't exactly groundbreaking in this regard, but it's cute and the illustrations are lovely.
