Recs if you like There Will Come Soft Rains...

on average people read 40-60 pages an hour, so this is a continuously updated collection of books with 60 pages or less & a couple short story collections

A novel is a prose work typically above 40k words, though many fall between 60-100k. Anything between roughly 17k and 40k words is generally considered a novella, while works between about 7k and 17k words are classified as novelettes, with some flexibility ~

TL;DR - short stories with 7k-17k words. Get out of that slump.

Books that remind me of Mulder and Scully and their wild x-file hunting days. Suggestions welcome. I’m forever chasing that high.

For the gurlies that want to read more classics but finish in a day

This is a curated list of short stories that are must read for any literature enthusiast! Feel free to post your suggestions in comments.

house fires in fiction - the power to cleanse, to destroy, to reveal, to vanquish

Books with similar themes to the Fallout series: critiquing rampant American consumerism and greed; deconstructing 1950s-era conservatism; post-apocalyptic road trip; man vs. God; long-term effects of authoritarianism; morally gray choices or “morally gray” choices; being locked inside underground (or in space) indefinitely; retro-futuristic technology; nuclear weapons and fallout; cosmic horror; or, ultimately, being the baddest motherfucker with a baseball bat.

it’s haunted, it’s evil, it’s gonna eat us alive

Apocalypse? I barely know her!

A list of post apocalyptic literature-- not focusing on the collapse, or the rebuilding, but imagining the emptiness of the world's final moments. Is it peaceful? Somber? Terrifying? Whatever feelings it may inspire, it is inevitable.

This list contains books where society is gone, the world has no hope of returning, and our narrator is here at the end as a mere observer.
