My attempt to get to know manga (and gekiga) though the medium itself. Starting with its roots in the 1940s post-war era and continuing with titles that had a major impact on its development.

Contains only works that are available in English translation. Multi-part works are listed with only the first volume.

My perspective is non-academic and western-influenced: Recommendations and additions are very welcome.

Any manga from or related to the gekiga period, which ran primarily in Monthly Magazine Garo. WIP list, if I'm missing any, let me know.
