Quite the read (or more listen- another audiobook!!) It felt like a movie. Read just like how I’d watch a movie. It had the perfect movie pattern. I found myself very committed to the couple’s journey, yelling in my car during the lows and giggling and smiling ear to ear during the highs.

I also think it approached grief in an interesting way. I wasn’t convinced of Sloan’s independence and that she truly was moving on because SHE was ready not because she found a man, though the author does try to make it look like that with sentences blatantly saying so. However, I respect that someone can help you find your way but you’re the one who has to make it all the way and only you yourself can get over that finish line. And I mean it sounded like it may have been the dog that really showed her the way more than Jason.

All that being said, I enjoyed the book but I question how original it truly was. It was a bit predictable but did still hold a few surprises. I will say that reading this after the One to Watch was probably tough because the two leads are so textbook gorgeous: Blonde with tattoos and a perfect figure + Midwestern lumberjack stud who can sing. These beautiful people clearly had to fall in love. Again, I did really enjoy the book despite the usual cliches.

And, okay, Kristen is amazing so of course I’m excited to backtrack and read the author’s first book The Friend Zone.

Solid work and a superb romcom!
