Tiny Cooper is anything but tiny. He is big, gay, and ready to tell his story in the form of a musical. One word to sum up Tiny's story: Fabulous. From the moment that Tiny was born it was obvious he was different. His family accepted him though, loved him for who he was and in the end, he found his friends would do just the same. While he was not always the most successful when it came to relationships, Tiny prevailed. Add a little sparkle, a lot of humor, and you have the makings of a great story about love.
Tiny Cooper is back and in a big way. While reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson (Speak, 2010) were you standing backstage in the wings with Will and Jane watching Tiny's musical? Did you wish that you could have experienced the musical in all its fabulous glory? Well, the wait is over! Tiny's musical is ready for you to finally experience from start to finish; each act, each song, and every relationship that Tiny went through.
Hold Me Closer is great because it gives fans of Will Grayson, Will Grayson the extra pages that bring the story full circle. It may not be for every reader: it is entirely in musical format with acts, stage directions by Tiny himself, and it includes every fabulous song lyric. Tiny is a larger than life character and Levithan has crafted a musical for Tiny to shine. A great addition to libraries, but it may not have as much popularity has Will Grayson did.
