Following Spoiler Alert, Olivia Dade returns with another utterly charming romantic comedy about a devil-may-care actor—who actually cares more than anyone knows—and the no-nonsense woman hired to keep him in line. Alexander Woodroe has it all. Charm. Sex appeal. Wealth. Fame. A starring role as Cupid on TV’s biggest show, God of the Gates. But the showrunners have wrecked his character, he’s dogged by old demons, and his post-show future remains uncertain. When all that reckless emotion explodes into a bar fight, the tabloids and public agree: his star is falling. Enter Lauren Clegg, the former ER therapist hired to keep him in line. Compared to her previous work, watching over handsome but impulsive Alex shouldn’t be especially difficult. But the more time they spend together, the harder it gets to keep her professional remove and her heart intact, especially when she discovers the reasons behind his recklessness…not to mention his Cupid fanfiction habit. When another scandal lands Alex in major hot water and costs Lauren her job, she’ll have to choose between protecting him and offering him what he really wants—her. But he’s determined to keep his improbably short, impossibly stubborn, and extremely endearing minder in his life any way he can. And on a road trip up the California coast together, he intends to show her exactly what a falling star will do to catch the woman he loves: anything at all.

I wish I could write a coherent review on this book, but I’m still all giddy. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I adored Alex and ADORED Lauren. It was perfection from the start and I wanted it to last forever.
4.5 stars
This book was full of tropes, even deliberately pointed out/acted out by our main characters! So that nod to fanfiction and the romance genre was really fun to see. I'd say the main two here are 'forced proximity' and 'opposites attract'.
Alex is gorgeous and famous, and his impulsive nature has landed him in hot water with the production team of the hit TV show he stars on. The jerk showrunner hires his cousin to be babysitter and minder to Alex, and Lauren is a no-nonsense stick in the mud that Alex is determined to aggravate at every opportunity. They quickly form a truce, and then a friendship, as Lauren realizes that Alex really needs some love and attention, and he's an honorable and deeply caring man. Alex is intrigued by Lauren's unconventional appearance, and finds her dry humor is a front disguising her caring and generous nature. Sparks begin to fly between this unlikely pair, even as Alex's career is in major jeopardy...
I loved our two main characters, I thought they were both written to be full rounded personalities and had their own issues that were layered into their everyday thoughts and came up during the forming of the relationship. This appears to be something author Olivia Dade does well--showing how realistically everyone carries 'baggage' and how opening up to someone and falling for them is a revealing of the tender parts of ourselves.
