Recs if you like Now I Surrender...

the novels on this list explore the faultlines of the american west, lingering in its borderlands, refusing its colonial myths. some of them reimagine classic wild west fiction tropes, while others refuse the terms of the western altogether. title from lil nas x ofc :)

Stories of the rural west

I haven’t read all of these, so feedback is welcome!

To stick it to Bret Stephens for his dumb op-ed in the NYT, here is a list of all the 77th Annual National Book Award Long List Honorees.

NBA Honoree Categories: Fiction Nonfiction Poetry Translated Literature Young People's Literature

If they release any others, I'll update this list!

Books requested to be added to PB: Still House (poetry)

The ten contenders for the National Book Award for the categories of Translated Literature, Nonfiction, Young People's Literature and Fiction.

Collection of books I add to my TBR/Interested list (partly) because the cover art is just stunning or just tickles my fancy in some kinda way 🥹💕 They say don't judge a book by its cover, but come on, look at them!!?? I add books when I run into new beauties, but recommendations are always welcome.

This list is like a Lacroix- someone yelled Mexico in the other room while it was canned. Author is Mexican, Book is set in Mexico, maybe Mexico is mentioned often or tangential to the plot, Characters are of Mexican descent, depicts Chicana/Mexican-American experience, Mexico in the title, Author flew over Mexico while writing the book/j etc. As long as the reason it's on here makes sense to me :) but hopefully will be obvious to everyone; adult books only- will put Spanish versions if they are already entered on pagebound
