Recs if you like Storming Heaven...

This is the list from which I'll be choosing for my Personal Syllabus this year. It explores the question: "How has the history and culture of Appalachia impacted Appalachian literature and storytelling?"

I would love recommendations! Nonfiction about Appalachia and fiction produced by Appalachia.

books set in or about appalachia

50 books - ones set in each state of America. I have put them in order alphabetically by state (not sure if it will change once created)

Books of all genres set in and focused on the Appalachian Mountains!

List named in honor of the women who rode on horseback to bring books to remote mountain regions during the Great Depression, this list now brings books out of the mountains to all of us.

Recommendations from my various college programs, including undergraduate history and anthropology as well as some graduate library sciences courses. All of these books have been recommended by my professors or readings from my professors
