Here are a bunch of graphic novels from different genres and ages! Mostly queer books also! Let me know if you need specific recs and leave your recommendations in the comments!

Banned books are books that have been prohibited or had its free access restricted by an authority—the government, school system or religious group—because they object to its content, ideas or themes. Banning a book is a form of censorship. The list is bound to not contain everything since the number is astronomical but feel free to suggest :]

All of these are from the list that Texas lawmaker Matt Krause in October of 2021 tried and in many cases succeeded to get banned from classrooms and school libraries. There are quite a few interesting and odd choices in there which is part of why I wanted to share this list on here. Not necessarily recommendations but there are some pretty good books on here. It's free comic books day, and we love comics and graphic novels every day, so here, have over 150 of our favorite graphic novels starring queer characters. (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

In October 2021, Texas State Representative Matt Krause initiated an inquiry targeting a list of approximately 850 books in Texas public schools, alleging they could cause "discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress" regarding race or sex. The list disproportionately targeted LGBTQ+ topics, race/racism, and sex education.

This is my project to read through this list for myself - utilizing my local library system for access to these titles. Follow the journey or join along!

I love YA. It can suck pretty bad when the books try to copy each other. But when some of those gems pop up...wowza! Who knew you could tell such a hard-hitting story without having to resort to 1,000 pages & sex?

This is the first list of a couple I'm planning to make with banned or challenged books. This one is specifically for graphic novels. Suggestions are welcome and will be reviewed before being added.
