Blake's father is forcing him to marry in order to inherit the family company. Cairo begins working for Blake, even though she didn't really want to, because her mother needs money for medical treatments and her father is not able to make enough money with his fishing business. They agree to be married for a year and Cairo's mother's medical bills will all be taken care of. As they spend more time together, it looks like they are starting to build a real relationship. Just as that happens, though, Blake backs off again. Cairo confronts him and indicates that she is not going to be played with -- he's either all in or all out. I loved that she was strong to speak her mind in that way and not just go along. I liked that Blake grew to get what he wanted and not just go along to keep the peace.
