It took me way too long to realize that my favorite romance setting isn't "the beach"—it's specifically cold beach towns. Give me all the foggy harbors, rocky coastlines, seafood shacks, and ferry rides, and characters who need a jacket to walk on the beach.

If you love that cozy Atlantic coast aesthetic, these romances are set everywhere from the Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island) to the charming seaside towns of New England. Comment to add recs!

Magical realism romances

Also known as The Bastone Effect (trademark pending lol) 😉 Promise Me Sunshine was one of the most recommended romances in 2025 and I believe it's because of the unique combination of love and grief. Here of some of my favorites. Recommendations are welcome in the comments but I will keep the list to ones I've read.
