As usual, Melissa Foster does a great job in getting the reader to care about the characters. I knew I'd love Duke, he's a Ryder. But somehow she also got me to love Gabriella despite the waffling and overthinking that woman did. Maybe it's the way Duke always knew when Gabriella was spiraling and did such a good job of pulling her back. Sure, it got annoying sometimes. Yet I still fell in love with her...and her family.

I find some of Foster's books super steamy and some to be more like PG13. This one definitely had some heat. What I like is that I always feel it's tastefully done in this series so it doesn't cross that invisible line into taboo. There's a time and place for that type of book. I like to enjoy this series for more than that aspect though so it works well for me.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the jumping back and forth between different arms of the series that has been going on with this lately. I understand that it makes more sense since there are sooooo many books and families now. But I want to read about Jake now, but he's not even the next Ryder book let alone the next Love in Bloom book. It could be a year before I get to read his story. Again, I understand the reasoning, but it sometimes annoys me.
