Recs if you like Hunger...

books where women eat or think about eating other people

A genre-inclusive and diverse list of horror releases coming in 2026. If I missed any or you have suggestions, please let me know. I will update periodically as new books are announced and release dates are solidified.

Source for a lot of the data for this list came from readjumpscares.com, which is a website you should absolutely check out. I’m sure data will come from other places along the way, as well.

horror novels written by women about girls and women with deadly appetites. despite the title there is sapphic lit here i just liked the pun. these books focus on human cannibals, i.e. not supernatural monsters like vampires, werewolves, etc. is the cannibalism a metaphor for love? rage? sex? all of the above!

a non-exhaustive list.

for the people who seek out a little bit of cannibalism in their literature 💕 comment recs for me to add to this list/my tbr!!

PLEASE NOTE: THIS LIST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS IF CANNIBALISM IS THE PLOT TWIST!!

I was surprised I couldn't find a list already. This is for my fellow cannibalism readers. Let me know if I missed any!

weird/wicked/gory/gothic/strange/surreal books by women, translated into english.

For when you need a quick horror fix

Translated fiction

Audiobooks that are less than 10 hours long and are safe for work AKA not aiming to get you (too) horned up at your desk (no guarantees that you won't cry or get the creeps though). Recommendations welcome!

literature that transcends borders and often breaks my heart

A list to help those who aspire to read from authors outside the typical areas. I will be creating different list for different regions. I will also list the countries currently found in the list. Be sure to check out the other lists! Note: The countries are not perfect as some countries are classified differently, so I did my best.

Current Countries: China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan

From the Book Leo's video! I really love her content and I want to read every book on this list.

horror that feels like being on a shroom trip once you’re in it.

Why read a cozy book, when instead you can feel unsettled yet somewhat validated while reading of another women’s journey through the horrors of life?

From a slow descent into madness, covering up murder for siblings, accidentally joining a cult, to insurance fraud over taxidermy - this list covers it all!!

Cat sells horror books

books I want to read (or have already read) where people are eating people.
