Falling in love is supposed to be the easy part. But nothing prepared me for losing my wife. I promised her that I’d love again. Find someone to mend my broken heart. And that seems impossible, until the day that I walk into Tilly Carter’s cupcake shop. I’ve never met a woman like her—sassy, dirty-mouthed, and smells like vanilla and sin. Someone that makes me want to sweep her off her feet. But there’s pain in her emerald eyes that mirrors my own. A past that neither of us can truly escape. Now that I have her, I’ll do anything to keep her. Hook is the third book in the STANDALONE USA Today bestselling Men of Inked: Southside series. Book 1 - Maneuver Book 2 - Flow Book 3 - Hook Book 4 - Hustle

I’ve been curious about Chelle Bliss, having seen the name around for years … when one of my local libraries suggested this listen, I thought, ‘It’s time to check her out!’ I had no idea what to expect other than … it’s obviously romance.
I had to wait a week or so for my turn at a copy, usually a good sign.
My thoughts …
It’s your typical second-chance romance, nothing really original going on. Yet, there’s good writing, likable characters, and this author clearly put some time/energy/thought into developing the main character and her world—respect on that front.
The writing at times is a bit better than most romance novels, with a heart-wrenching scene or two.
Example:
“I think we’re too broken to be with anyone else … but together, we’re whole.”
The mutual attraction and respective denial is … definitely done to death in this genre but … it keeps me mildly entertained on that front too. < This is a compliment as anyone who can take a done-to-death vibe and not have me totally bored has talent.
I’ll likely explore more from this author, if for nothing else, to at least keep me company when I’m working. Thanks so much, Miss Bliss, for making the audio widely avail—I can’t afford those ACX-exclusive titles.
Overall:
3.5 stars.

Great performance! Dual-narration and both have great voices, read well, and perform well. 4-star performance.
*The end was a bit of a let-down, only because it ended like just about every other romance novel I’ve ever read/heard.
These books are very insta love so if that bothers you, this series is not for you. However, they are well written and quick reads.
I want to hang out with Tate. She’s hysterical.
I love that both the H and the h have loved and lost. They have a real understanding about what the other has been through. I love that they can talk to one another about their previous lives without jealousy or fear.
I would have liked more with Brax but since he is so little it wasn’t really necessary.
