I wanted to love this book. I really did but I can't. Before I start I have to say, that I didn't read "The Dragonbone chair". Again, I wanted to love the books but I just couldn't get over with the few hundreds pages. Maybe I'll try them again because....
Over all I like William's style of writing. The universe he created is really fascinating and I enjoyed the world building.
However, I had issues with the characters. Most of all with Miriamel who annoyed me more and more. She told everyone how they were supposed to live, she was rude and unfair and for me absolutly not bearable.
Morgan was annoying, too. I mean, what was the sense of his character? Whining? Pouting? Making everyone responsible for his own stupid behaviour.
The pace of narration was very slow. The first really exciting thing happened around page 500. Before that there was a lot of ... whining. And being depressed.
I did enjoy the scenes with the Norns and well ... every scene that didn't include Miriamel or Morgan.
I am sorry, I know many people love Tad Williams and love this book, too. It just didn't fit my taste - if it fits yours then that's really cool!!! You have a few more books only waiting for you :)!
