In all her daydreams about her wedding day, Lady Claray MacFarlane never once imagined being dragged to the altar by her greedy uncle and forced to marry a man she didn't know. But that's what happened, or would have, had a Highland warrior not snatched her up at the last minute and ridden off with her in his arms... They call him the Wolf. The mercenary's courage and prowess in battle are known throughout the Highlands, and with his handsome face and black-as-sin hair, he was as intelligent and deadly as the wolf he was named for... But the Wolf is also Claray's betrothed. Thought to have been killed as a child, he'd been in hiding all these years. Now, he's determined to earn enough coin to rebuild his home, reclaim his birthright, and honor his marriage contract to Claray. For he's fallen for the tender-hearted lass...and he will do anything to protect her and their future together.

It was fine. I was onboard for a typical Lynsay Sands highlander times book. It mostly delivered, but the end was unsatisfying.
Claray and Conall. Claray is about to be forced into marriage when Conall shows up, throws her on his horse and saves her. Turns out, he’s “The Wolf” a hired mercenary, AND her betrothed that everyone though was dead for 22 years. There is instant attraction between them. They get married, and run off to hide from the guy who tried to marry her. Meanwhile they go to his castle to start making it livable after 22 years.
Claray is an animal collector. On their first journey she collects a bunny, a baby stoat (so cute!), a fox. She also has a WOLF and a crazy horse called “Stubborn Bastard”.
There’s 2 bad guys in the wind. Someone who killed Conall’s whole family with poison, and they guy that tried to marry Claray to get her inheritance.
The end is just crazy plot wild/dumb. Claray has been told by her priest that if you enjoy sex you go to hell. Of course she enjoys sex with Conall so worries she’s a bad person. Another lady rationalizes that if you are married and agree to obey your husband, and your husband wants you to enjoy it… it’s cool. But this is such a widespread belief that a woman kills an entire clan because they all love the fornicating. It’s just bananas. And the original bad guy never actually shows up on page, he just ends up dead.
