With shades of The Hunger Games, Ender’s Game, and Game of Thrones, debut author Pierce Brown’s genre-defying epic Red Rising hit the ground running and wasted no time becoming a sensation. Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom from the overlords of a brutal elitist future built on lies. Now fully embedded among the Gold ruling class, Darrow continues his work to bring down Society from within. A life-or-death tale of vengeance with an unforgettable hero at its heart, Golden Son guarantees Pierce Brown’s continuing status as one of fiction’s most exciting new voices.

4.5 stars. Wow. This second installment took about 150 pages or so before I was fully latched in, but once in it took my breath away. There were elements that reminded me of something like Game of Thrones set in space, with all the families, war, politics, alliances ... Darrow is a great character, but his ego still bothers me - I guess it's necessary to the plot though.
EDIT: 10/11/17
Second time was just as crazy as the first.
4.5 stars.
Why do I even do these things to myself
Golden Son was a million times better than Red Rising. This book was nothing like the first and I appreciate that so much, thank you
This book had so many twists and turns it was like watching a soap opera except it had better acting. Literally.
I don't even know where to start, so I'm going to end it here for now and mull over my thoughts.
