Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Operation Protective Edge, Israel's most recent assault on Gaza, left thousands of Palestinians dead and cleared the way for another Israeli land grab. The need to stand in solidarity with Palestinians has never been greater. Ilan Pappé and Noam Chomsky, two leading voices in the struggle to liberate Palestine, discuss the road ahead for Palestinians and how the international community can pressure Israel to end its human rights abuses against the people of Palestine. On Palestine is the sequel to their acclaimed book Gaza in Crisis.

It was painful to read this book knowing it was written 10 years ago and seeing how the patterns laid out in the book have just continued to occur over and over and over again. It breaks my heart and I feel a bit defeated. This book was very informative but I feel a little helpless in how I can continue to fight for Palestine when I live in a country that continues to disregard its people’s voices. But so we persist. If all I can do is continue to urge U.S. officials to change their policies that support Israel so mindlessly and beg them to stop using our tax dollars to support Israel in this genocide, that’s what I’ll do.
