    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

In this thrilling spin-off of Coralie Moss's Calliope Jones series, we meet three sisters, separated after their mother's death, who come together to sell off her sewing shop--or so they think. Told from the point of view of impetuous Clementine, the youngest sister, this story takes off with action from the first chapter and doesn't stop running until the very end.

Fans will find everything they love from the author's prior series: an inventive magic system, elaborate magical ceremonies, and costumes--oh, the costumes! We meet new magical beings: demons and mages, and we learn more about the Melusine and the evil Fae. Moss's trademark humor weaves throughout. And the loving-yet-realistic family bonds, so well done in the Calliope Jones series, shine here, as well.

I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about the Brodeur sisters and the larger mystery that's revealed in this installment as the series continues.
