This book was provided by Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
    Rating: 4.5 stars.

This novel begins with a discussion of Josie who is a numb teenage girl who has suffered with amnesia - and her memory is triggered upon seeing the hunk of her dreams (and of her artwork), Tristan. Josie has found an escape from all of the trouble in her life in the shape of meaningless sex, drugs and her art - each of which she dedicates a lot of time to. Admittedly I was, at first, skeptical about the drugs and meaningless sex because I thought, maybe, it could just be another gimmick for this kind of book - but it's not that way at all. The main themes of this book were executed in a new and unique way; something that I, personally, hadn't seen before; which was a reason as to why I fell in love with this book as quickly as I did.

Firstly, I'd like to say that this is an absolutely stunning debut novel. I had never heard of Season Vining, and I was very happy to have discovered a new author whose work I have absolutely fallen in love with. Right from the off I loved this authors writing and as the novel progressed and got more intense, I began to love it even more. I loved the way things were expressed - they weren't dragged out but they weren't too short; there was the right amount of detail. This ensured the novel was fast paced and allowed a lot of things to happen in a short space of time - and honestly, I found myself wanting this novel to continue even further. The novel itself is truly breathtaking. Upon entering this novel, I didn't think I would love it quite as much as I did - but I'm pleasantly surprised and very, very happy to say that it has now become one of my favorite books.

As the novel progresses, you find yourself delving into a plethora of different events - and each of them had me gripping at my Kindle, refusing to put it down even for a moment until I knew how said event was going to pan out. It was gripping right from the very start and it is one of the most intense novels I have read in a long time.

I loved the characters, too; and a part of me would love this to become a series of some sorts just so I could see what panned out with the characters (though I'm relieved it wasn't left on a cliffhanger), because they have quickly grown to be loved by me - and I particularly loved Tristan. He's weird, quirky and it took me a moment to warm to him - but that's the best kind of character in my opinion, so that was amazing.

The only thing I would have to complain about (which is why it is 4.5 stars opposed to 5) is that it's a little bit choppy in terms of point of view. It wasn't exactly clear when it was switching to another characters point of view; but once you get used to that a few chapters in, it's completely fine - but I would've probably enjoyed the start of the book more was I constantly not flicking back to try and figure out whose POV it was. That only knocked .5 of my rating off of this review, so it wasn't that bad! Don't let it put you off from reading this unique, interesting, twist-filled, fun and truly addicting novel.

If you like quick paced, interesting, exciting and raw tension filled novels, you will absolutely love this. I myself absolutely adored this book, and I will be keeping my eyes open for further works from this lovely author!
