Wednesday Martin explores what people have been getting wrong about unfaithful women and the evolutionary impulses behind their desires. Blending personal stories from Martin's own history with accessible social science, cultural theory, and interviews with sex researchers, psychologists, primatologists, anthropologists, and real women from all walks of life, she reveals startling insights about female sexuality.

This book is so, so important. If you believe the idea that men are sexually aggressive, while women by nature are coy, choosy, and passive about sex because of how we evolved, READ THIS BOOK. This book has scads of data and research about how we’ve gotten sexuality in females/women in nature and in other societies completely wrong.
There’s an entire chapter about how the plough — not just the rise of agriculture but the tool ITSELF — is responsible for many gender stereotypes and misogynistic thinking. If you’re a woman who has ever been shamed (by others or herself) for sexual longings or a high libido, read this book. If you are a woman who has ever strayed (which is way more common than people think, often for different reasons than people assume!), read this book.
I will be recommending this book for the rest of my life for how expansive, thorough, and inclusive it is.
