Oh, Max. If you aren’t already in love with Jane’s protector/body guard from the previous stories, you will be after this story. We get a peek into how he became like family to the Kayr’s brothers, how he came to be Jane’s protector, and how he finds his mate.
This is a short story, so it moves fast. I’d say it wouldn’t do as well as a standalone because you should already have an understanding of the different paranormal families in this world. But, if for some reason you want to read this book without reading the previous books, you’ll still feel the connection between Max and Sarah. You’ll still feel the camaraderie these soldiers have for one another. You’ll still know that Max and his group are morally on the right side.
I’m really hoping to see more of Max and Sarah together in the future books in this series. They are both such honorable and good people.
