I don't feel comfortable rating this title. While I understand why the author used the plot devices they did, the school shooting didn't feel like the right choice for me. It did nothing for the overall plot other than add drama and provide a way for the MC's to have a "deep connection"- which could've been achieved in another way.

Comment added after finishing Complicated Hearts duet: I get it now. I get why the school shooting happened and why Kit and Preston have this connection.
