an alternate cover edition can be found here It was meant to be temporary. Fate had other ideas. Victor Mills would do anything to protect his pack, even work with magic he detests. When the wards safeguarding his territory start to deteriorate, he's forced to hire a local mage to fix them. He could tolerate the abrasive stench of sorcery, if only the mage didn't also smell like everything his wolf has ever wanted. Elijah Lauring has no intention of tying himself to a shifter pack; his neutrality pays the bills. Repairing the Mills pack wards should be a one-off job, but the spell he casts to tap into Victor's energy stubbornly refuses to fade. The intoxicating connection that lingers between them plunges his magic into chaos right when he needs it the most. As they grapple with their conflicting desires, they soon discover the wards aren't the only thing decaying. An evil is infecting the pack land, and they must learn to trust each other and their growing bond to defeat it. If they fail, Victor's pack will pay the ultimate price. Accidental Bonds is a steamy 115k M/M paranormal romance featuring a broody wolf shifter, a headstrong mage, meddling friends, a perpetually unimpressed cat, and knotting. It's perfect for readers who love simmering slow burns, characters who rub each other in all the wrong ways before they realize the right ones are much more enjoyable, and shifter stories with a healthy dose of found family, thrilling action, and snarky banter. While it guarantees a happy ending for its main couple, the overarching plot does contain cliffhangers. Please look inside for content warnings. (This series does not contain mpreg.)

I clearly enjoyed this book or so I think. The thing is something about this book... it was too long? I think it's the lenght but I'm not sure what is it exactly that I didn't quite like.
(ps: I'm using the ABO tag but this is a very loose abo universe, there are alphas and knots but thank the gods not a single rut, estruss or breeding reference, the Wolves are very horny on the full moon but honestly, every character in this book is horny 24/7 so)

    now to the book itself.
I started this because I wanted a slow burn and this promised that. Did it deliver? yeah, kinda. This is in fact a slow burn and it's way better than book 2. But there's no balance between plot and romance... the romance takes a long long looooong time to take off (because slow burn, yeah) but the plot doesn't move at the same pace, it remains stagnant until the romance is ripe to keep going. That makes this book very boring because there are very long chunks of book where nothing fucking happens! (other than the characters being "oh no, I can't be bonded to him! I have the rest of my life planned and there's no shifter bond included in those plans! -same for the other character, just change shifer for mage).
so... yeah, this was kinda good but longer than neccesary.
Also, there's no worldbuilding lol for a book this long, there's literally 0 lore shared. The author tries in book 2 but honestly, it doesn't make any sense. I will complain about that in the next review.
