Recs if you like Mostly Dead Things...

every struggled to find actual lesbian/sapphic books when at the library or bookstore? so did I!

bc of said struggle, I started to curate a personal list of books that either has lesbian MCs and/or featured a primary sapphic romance.

i haven't read all of these, but I do try my diligence in confirming that they meet the above perimeters, since many books claim to be sapphic when they're not. this is an ever updating list, only fiction for now!

these books are both aligned with and offer a queering of ‘weird girl literature’, a genre that manipulates horror, dark comedy, and/or surrealist elements to excavate the internal world of complex and unconventional characters. they are deviant, daring, and perverse reads for the weird queers among us.

*girl in quotation marks to allow this list to extend beyond the binary. recommendations welcome!

Sometimes the main character is into fiber arts, sometimes a side character is hand embroidering a jean jacket for her wife. All recs and craft types welcome.

Beautiful books for when your monthly reading roundup needs a little facelift 😉

Florida books D*santis would hate for you to read

Includes books with BIPOC and/or queer authors or main characters from Florida and books related to topics being censored including history, race, migration, LGBTQIA+, climate change, the environment, etc.

List is a work in progress, please feel free to suggest additions! Non-fiction and fiction welcome.

for those who don't conform to the norm.

could be queer could be horror downright wonky

Any sapphic book that I feel falls in the category of lit fic

Hopefully some you haven't heard of

Because who doesn’t love birds?? Fiction and non-fiction books all featuring birds prominently on the cover. This is what I spend my time thinking about 😭

MUNA wrote the song it gets so hot. And these are books that feel like that song. Literally and metaphorically.

The sun or summer or heatwave is a character or an oppressive force. Or the city of LA is a character or an oppressive force or a key setting. Or a combo of both. Or it’s a book MUNA have recommended. Or it’s just a bit steamy 🥵

Inspired by Autostraddle's Queer Books Across America list

Why read a cozy book, when instead you can feel unsettled while reading of another women’s journey through the horrors of life?

From a slow descent into madness, covering up murder for siblings, accidentally(?) joining a cult, to insurance fraud over taxidermy - this list covers it all!!

Step into a world where beauty meets the bizarre, where curiosity takes flight, and where the extraordinary comes to life.
