Valdez, the bleak town in Alaska that I put in my rear-view mirror a decade ago, is calling me back. My mother is dying, and I’m the only one left who can take care of her. Returning to my home town after building the life I wanted for myself and my daughter in Florida won’t be a walk in the park. It holds memories that I have been trying to forget for a long time, memories of a beautiful raven-haired girl. Rein.
